This is a short book, but I think it paints a beautiful picture of the life and tragedy of Mary Queen of Scots. It's not a completely unbiased book, but the author does a pretty good job of staying objective on many of the more contoversial points in history/5(13).   In Mary Queen of Scots, John Guy creates an intimate and absorbing portrait of one of history’s most famous women, depicting her world and her place in the sweep of history with stunning immediacy. Bringing together all surviving documents and uncovering a trove of new sources for the first time, Guy dispels the popular image of Mary Stuart /5(9).

Queen of Scots: The True Life of Mary Stuart by John Guy. John Guy has written a couple books about Mary Queen of Scots. I thought this biography was the best one of those to include in this list, mostly because this book doesn’t dwell on her as a Queen Gone Wild. The souldiers all sat downe enrank’t, each by his armes and horse, That then lay downe, and cool’d their hoofes. , William Camden, The Historie of the Life and Death of Mary Stuart Queene of Scotland, London: Richard Whitaker, Anno , p.

Books shelved as mary-stuart: Mary Queen of Scotland and The Isles by Margaret George, The Other Queen by Philippa Gregory, Mary Queen of Scots by Antoni.   Notes. A literal translation from Camden's Annales, and first published in In the opinion of John Scott, of Edinburgh (d. ) it was probably published with Camden's sanction, by W. Udall, under the pseudonym of Strangvage, and later, in , under his real name (dedication being signed: W. Vdall) cf. Scott's Bibliography of works relating to Mary Pages:
